All About Layering 4 - AECP

Hello craft friends,

This is my second card project for the Altenew Educator Certification Program. I am so happy to have joined this program. So much to learn from some some super talented card makers and crafters.

The card that I created today is inspired by the some of the techniques that I learnt from Lydia Evans.  She talks about some amazing techniques in All About Layering 4 class.

I started with a watercolor background panel. I cut a piece of Tim Holtz Watercolor Cardstock to be slightly smaller than an A2 size card base. Using the Spring Garden SEt Watercolor Brush Markers by Altenew, I covered the entire panel in shades of Pinks and Purples, which is my favorite color combination so far!

While my watercolor background was drying, I started working on my focal point. I decided to go with this beautiful floral image from the Build-a-Garden : Nature's Magic Stamp, Die and Stencil combination. This is an amazing set if you are looking for a gorgeous focal point for your card front with some beautiful sentiments.

I stamped the floral image using Versafine Onyx Black ink and then I decided to use the coordinating stencils, which is a set of layering stencils, to color these flowers. I used the SSS Pawsitively Saturated Inks in the shade Ocean, Surf and Seafoam for the flowers and my favorite combination of greens - Pine and Field - for my leaves.

I die cut the image using the coordinating die set.

Now that my watercolor background is completely dry, I can adhere my focal point onto the card front.

I decided to place the floral image towards the left of the panel, so that I had enough space for a sentiment on the right side of the panel.

Before I adhered my focal point, I decided to add some splatters to this simple background. For some added texture, I added some Gold thread as a base for my focal point.

Using little foam squares, I adhered the focal point over the thread.

For my sentiment, I gold heat embossed "Celebrate the Joys of Life" sentiment from the Sketchy Cities America 2 Stamp Set. I love this set as this depicts the beautiful skyline of Seattle, that's where I live now!

My cards are usually never complete without some shine and sparkle. So to call my card done, I added some Gold Hologram Sequin from This Calls For Confetti.

I love how this card turned out. I hope this inspires you to create something similar using your layering stencils, which gave a depth to my flowers and leaves.

Also, a big thank you to the creators at Altenew for all the wonderful classes and tips and tricks to create beautiful projects.

The Altenew Educator Certification Program is definitely a best opportunity to showcase my work and get in touch with all of the amazing crafters.

I love the look of this card! The pink watercolored background, the splatter, the string and pop of black and blue! And look at that stamping! I love it all :) Well done!
